“Night of the Libraries” (german: Nacht der Bibliotheken) – that was the theme of the final exam (Qualifikationsverfahren) of the four year long graphics apprenticeship. Five Zurich libraries open their doors late into the night on one evening and invite to concerts, workshops and several readings.
The colloquial term “night owl”, darkness and light, as well as a phosphorescent star that had been hanging from the ceiling in my room for many years, inspired me to create the visual identity for the Night of the Libraries. The glowing night owl on the posters and flyers attracts the target group’s attention perfectly and ensures that the event establishes itself as an important cultural event in Zurich. With the bright, phosphorescent design I passed the final graphic design exam successfully.
